Esteban Ocon Facts

1. Esteban kickstarted his racing career with karting in 2006, at the age of 10. He won the French Minime Championship in 2007 and the French Cadet Championship in 2008. In 2011, he won the French KF3 title and finished 2nd in the WSK Euro Series.
2. To support and sustain his ambitious racing career, his parents had sold their house and lived in a caravan, traveling from one circuit to the next, while he was still a kart racer.
3. After spending nearly 3 seasons as a test driver in the premier Formula One tier, his first full opportunity to drive in a competitive race arrived in August 2016 when the Manor Racing MRT team’s incumbent driver Rio Haryanto was dropped mid-season and had to be replaced because his sponsors had failed to meet certain contractual obligations.
4. From the 2016 Belgian Grand Prix (his debut F1 race) to the 2017 Mexican Grand Prix, he finished 27 Grand Prix races in succession. This feat was a new F1 record for ‘Most Consecutive Races finished from the start of a Career’. The streak was broken at the 2017 Brazilian Grand Prix when he was involved in a collision in the first lap itself which forced him to retire from the race.
